Subject: Cat question IP: Logged
Message: I was told at a local speed shop that if i took off (or beat out the insides) of my cat, that my truck would run like shiiit, cus of the o2 sensors. They also said that doing away with what little back pressure i have (due to a hooker muffler) would make me lose all the low end power that i have. I have a 3.9, so theres not a lot of low end torque to begin with. It was a good mod for a couple of my buds, but they shift at 7000+ rpms vs. my 5000. Is this a good mod for me,and if so, what do i do about the o2 sensors?

Message: the second O2 sensor behind the cat tells the computer if the cat is workin right. If you mess with the cat or remove the O2 sensor you could end up,if you have an automatic, the transmission being stuck in second gear or what is limp home mode. the onlyway to fix it is to replace the busted cat and reset the computer. Why do all you young boys want to mess up your catvertrs for a gain of only 2 hp?????? Removing the passengerseat gives more real world gains.

Message: i know a guy that gained 11 RWHP by putting a cutout in the exhaust beforet the cat. he only runs it like that at the track though
i have been thinking of gutting my cat, because they go out all of the time. gutting it, would solve a lot of problems and trouble shooting in the future

Message: Dont forget to buy a KATBOX when removing/
gutting the cats. Hook your O2 sensors leads
to it and your computer will get satisfactory
signals (as if the cats were running perfectly)
