Subject: I want to fix up my dakota IP: Logged
Message: I have the 2.5L I-4 engine in my regular cab 2000 dakota. I want to get something with more power, but there is no way i can afford a new truck, but i really like my truck i have now. What can i do to it to give it more power, or can i drop a new engine in it. I'd like to get the 4.7L engine with a 5-speed manual. Can i do that and how much would it cost?

Message: It would be very costly to drop in a v-6 or a v-8. the money you would spend to do this correctly, you might as well buy a used one with a v-8. the wiring and computers need to be changed with the motor also. MORE MONEY, MORE MONEY.

Message: i had a 91 dak 4cyl, 5 speed and the only good thing i could say about that trk was it got good gas mileage. as the previous post stated it would be cost prohibitive to upgrade ur present trk so just make it look nice, enjoy the gas mileage and save money to trade for v6 or v8 when you can. i traded my 91 dak for my present 94 dak v6 5speed, and i love the trk and gas mileage is quite good.
