Message: Im having some concerns about putting nitrous on my 98 3.9 (2wd) dak..... Some people think im kinda nuts for buying it but i think im about out of mods. I have a k&n cold air intake, poweraid throttle body spacer, msd 6A ignition, hooker single outlet cat back exhaust, an electric fan, 160* thermostat, and a Jet stage II module. On friday im having the Transgo performance shift kit and 3.92 gears put in. I have already purchased and partially installed a Zex Nitrous kit. If anyone knows about these systems, they have a small computer that kinda looks like my msd ignition box. Anyway, i am supposed to run a line to my fuel pressure regulator. My truck doesnt have one, so can i run that line to the vacuum valve on my manifold? I need some sort of signal so the computer will send the nitrous. Will that work? Ive already had the bottle filled so now i have to make it work. I just turned 18 so im kinda going into this blind. Can anyone tell me how to make this work? I dont want to blow my motor the first time i hit that switch. PS..i put the 55hp jet in it.

Message: Our daks dont have a fuel return on them, it is
virtually impossible to install the zex system.
The 2001+ daks might have them but i know
that the 97-00 def dont bc i almost bought that
system for mine (99). There might be an
alternative route, but the reason that the hose
goes to the fpr is to supply pressure to the
regulator in order to command the extra fuel. If
it doesnt work out you should be able to sell it
for a botu the same price as you bought it. Call
thier tech line though just in case.
Good Luck,
Josh

Message: I dont see how your truck does not have a fuel pressure regulator. It should, if not it is running because you have sprinkled majik sparkle dust on it. I suggest you find your fpr or wait for intensedak39 to show up. He has a heavily modded 3.9 and is running a 100+ shot of nitrous.

Message: This post is kinda long, sorry 'bout that. The truck DOES have a fuel pressure regulator, the problem is all '94 and newer Dodge trucks use a returnless fuel system in which instead of the regulator being mounted on the fuel rail, the filter-regulator assembly is mounted on the top of the fuel tank, and runs a constant pressure because it recieves no vacuum input from the engine. Therefore to my knowledge the stock regulator cannot be used to provide the extra fuel you need for N2O. Those of you who have tried to find a fuel filter on your truck and can't should know that the filter and regulator are built together as one unit. (At least my '95 has no other filter besides the tank mounted assembly, newer ones ???) This unit costs about $85 and is a PITA to replace. Apart from the probable manufacturing cost savings, this system strikes me as a solution in search of a problem, or for the conspiratorial minded, an intentional obstacle to boosting performance? Dodge seems to like making those. You could always replace the fuel system with a return line system with a vacuum modulated regulator on the rail, but I don't know how your PCM might react to that. The easiest route would probably be to find a nitrous system designed for the Dodge fuel system (if one exists). There are other options, but this post is long enough already and there are others here who actually use the stuff and could give you a lot more help than me. My only experience with nitrous is from the dentist's office. All it did was make me dizzy.

Message: You have one of the expensive parts of a N2O setup and thats the only part I would reuse, thats the Bottle.
Get a fuel and N2O solinoid from Nitrous Express some lines and the jet kit.
Thats the same system Intense and I use and if you choose to I think you will be satisfied.
If you have any questions feel free to email me directly, I can copy the NX instructions and email em to you if you wanna try and piece it together.
Godd luck, Scott

Message: well i think they have said it all....
just do a little research before ya purchase. Nitrous Express has a universal dodge efi kit that uses the fuel pressure test port on the fuel rail to add more fuel. The nx kit also rates it's jets in rwhp gains and is within 2% accuracy. The other companies only offer in hp at the crank. If ya wanna go higher than a 75 shot you will wanna lose the jet chip because while it advances time... with added combustion pressures you will wanna retard timing. I used the 100 shot without any retard device and was okay... i just used 93 octane with NOS offroad octane booster. Worth 7+ octane.
good luck

Message: My bad, I forgot that you also need the NX "Shark" nozzle.
Did you sell all your NX stuff Intense?
Maybe you guys can make a deal if you havent.
Me personally, I will never part with mine, I'm thinkin of a S/C or Turbo and I'll still squrit also.

Message: Notice i said the fuel return was the problem
and as stated earlier in the post the systems
on 94 and newer are RETURNLESS. I didnot
say that there wasnt a FPR on the truck
