Message: hey bjlindsey...i switched back to 87 just to see if all the ping was actually gone and no, there is little ping with 87, so I would say if u have ping, even with the autolites, you may need to try out different gas.

Message: I just put some 3923s in and I'm very impressed. I run 89 octane and I can feel a difference all the way through the rev band. Smooth, even helped my exhaust sound better.

Message: Do you think that a set of AUTOLITES and a 180
degree T-STAT would help a FORD EXPLORER that has
similar problems.
It runs fine when cold but it pings all of the
time when at operating temperature and the engine
is under load.

Message: I put the 3923s' in my 99 Dak as well about 4 months ago and I also have the 180 T-stat. The truck ran a little better but I ran into the same problem as PSU. I still cannot run 87 otherwise, I'll ping
No pinging with 89 from Shell
I get a ping with 89 from Exxon so I have to buy 92 from there.

Message: Pinging, knocking and detonation are all terms for a condition known as "pre-ignition". That means some of the gas and air mixture is igniting in the cylinder before it's supposed to. And when that extra flame front crashes into the normal flame front (created by the spark plug), you hear a noise, and that noise is pinging.

Message: While pinging is being mentioned. This may seem really stupid but I have a 92 Dak V6 and I thought my motor was pinging at times but I also would like to know if it's possible or common to hear the coolant system from the cab. I hear a sound quite often that sounds like water running through pipes in a way. Trying to figure out what it is.

Message: Yeah, I hear my cooling system all the time (after I shut the truck off) since the exahust is too loud when the motor is running. Also, sometime I can hear something with the air conditioning when its being used.
