Message: If it's just a P0305, and the 0351 didn't come back, then it may not even be the plug or coil. it could be an injector, it could be a manifold leak, the plug may not be in tight enough...anything that would cause a decrease in power balance on the number 5 cylinder. Hey, believe it or not, it could actually be a Crankshaft Position sensor!!!. This is the sensor that basically tells the PCM how much power each cylinder is producing. BTW, how are you driving the vehicle when the MIL comes on? Is it highway/city, accel/decel, brake/throttle, high load/low load? Some of these things in the right circumstances can trick the PCM. Anyways, if you still have the P0351, I might be one to suspect either the harness itself, or the Crank Pos. Sensor. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Message: Ok, i'm wondering if its the hole where the IAT was, where I pluged it.
Maybe it leaks there. I have the type of plug that twists in to lock.
What does everyone else with a 2001 4.7 plug the hole with?
I have a bolt threaded in with o-rings to seal it, i'm thinking it may leak because I can't really tighten it very much because of it not being a thread there to screw it in, just a small plastic piece on each side. And I think this may cause this 0305 code.
What other ways is there that I can plug it with to make a sure seal?
BTW: Thanks for all the input

Message:
Why don't you just put the IAT back to stock and see if the code clears up !
Some of the 01's are even having a little problem with Bernds IAT ajuster setting off codes seems the PCM instructios are a little tighter.

Message: I replaced my plugs this weekend with Bosch Platinum 4230's and all hell broke loose. I have a 2000 QC Dak 4x4 w/5.9. At first I was getting 300 (multiple cylinder misfire), 305 (#5), 306 (#6), and 308 (#8) codes. I pulled em all back out and re-gapped and re-seated them, reset the computer and no codes but the truck is still running like ass! I'm thinking it doesn't like these plugs...any experiences with this?

Message: Maybe the change in your IAT sensor is just a chance thing that it happened at the same time. I have a coil go on mine already only at 90000km. Try switching the #5 coil with a different on and reset the code. If it comes up again, but on that new cylinder then it's you coil. They're not too much, like $50.00 (Cdn).

Message: Autolites do have one problem never addressed that I seen in here. They have poor quality resisters that can be defective when new. I'd try changing that plug to one of your old ones and test this possibility. As for the guy with the platnium plugs, yours is not an uncommon problem with platnium plugs. They have very very low resistance causing weak spark and if all your other ignition items are not in tip top shape you have this problem. My experiance is, when this rough idle problem exists with platnium plugs fuel milage goes south with it.
So many problems .... So little time
