Message: I was backing up a tent trailer with my 2002, QC, SLT w/4.7, 3.55 rear w/trac lok (4wd engaged over very loose rock)when I heard light, loose, rapid clicking from rear of truck.
Not there in 2wd backing or driving forward in 4wd.
Any ideas? Is this normal with trac lok?
Have read that TL is not very good LSD and I can expect to replace at 3ok. Is this true? Will warranty cover?

Message: I haven't had any problems with my Trac-lok. It has more than paid for itself in several situations.
As for your original question, without hearing the noise, I cannot even begin to tell you what may have been causing it. Although, I almost wonder if it wasn't just sounds being produced by the drivetrain binding...beings that you were in four-wheel drive. Not sure. Sorry, shunpike3.

Message: Sound was ratcheting click or clicking rachet. Sounds that a pawl makes when clicking against gear teeth on hand winches. Didn't think the drivetrain would bind with LSD?
Thanks!

Message: I heard the same ratcheting clicking rachet noise. It seems to only do it when there is a lot of torque going to the rear wheels. Leaned my head out of the door and applied the breaks and pressed the gas on and off and the clicking noise seems to be coming from the output of the transfer case or at the front u joint of the rear drive shaft. I also does it when I take off from a light. I am concerened but do not know what else to look for, nothing is getting hot.
Thanks!
