What would be a cheap (if you want to call it that) nitrous system for my Magnum V6. If I got a NOS system for it, would I need to change to any heavier duty engine components??? What type of performance changes can I expect from a NOS system and how long should one tank last me??? Sorry for all of the questions. Just curious.

You can run up to a 100HP shot on the V6 (I did for quite a long time). Basic mods should be TB, Headers, Exhaust, 180 T'stat, and quality plugs/cap/rotor/wires. You'll need the Base EFI kit + Bottle warmer to keep the pressure consistent. (Nothing worse than low Nitrous pressure and blowing up an airhat.)

what does low bottle pressures have to do with blowing off air hats?. I thought low bottle pressures just give you inconsistent et's and inconsistent a/f mixture ratios...(makes it too rich). Blowing an air hat off would relate to running a wet system on a manifold that was never designed to flow fluid and it will puddle up and cause a backfire through the intake at partial throttle with solenoids cutoff ....thus blowing off a airhat assembly....lt1 engines are very bad about doing this.....Does anybody agree?...jteuton

jteuton, do you not know that the base NX for Dodge EFI is a "wet system"? and in that if the N2O pressure is too low you still get the applied shot of fuel and it is unperportional to the N2O?

I thought that would cause the engine to bog down with an excessively rich mixture (added fuel and no n20) but certainly not blow the hat off. I know the system is wet and I don't think the stock 3.9l manifold was designed to flow liquid (the fog of n20 and fuel) thru it. It was designed just for air. So what happens is you hit your shot and light up the tires and there's a slight chance that the mixture will puddle in the manifold and never make it to the cylinders. Then when you let off the throttle....fuel and n20 solenoids shut down and your revs drop and then...BOOM...the puddle hits your cylinder and detonates like a bomb. I have heard of several people with this problem. Especially on lt1 engines. Bottle heaters are for extra horsepower and are more dangerous than safe. You should have a gauge to watch how high the pressure gets cause it could explode the tank. Running the bottle anywhere form 32-100 degress will net you a tank pressure of 250-700psi which will work just fine....though the n20 won't flow as good if heated up to around 900 psi with a heater ...but in my opinion this is a little high for me....i doubt the bottle will hold more than 1200psi...which is easily attainable if heater gets too hot. So back to your statement. If tank is REALLY cold and n20 flow is really slow and you get too much fuel too soon than you will have a rich mixture that will bog your engine down but this is safer than a lean condition which will put a hole in your piston. Until somebody can show me proof that too much fuel blows intakes off i will keep to my orginal decision...peace...jteuton

I just wanted to calrify in my original message in case its confusing....low pressures don't flow nitrous as well as higher bottle pressures. (hence the reason everybody wants a heater.)..jteuton

If 1200 psi is too high, then why is my NX bottle rated for 3000psi? No, it has never even come remotely close to that pressure, but it is designed to handle up to that pressure. Directly from NX, the ideal pressure is between 950-1050psi. and that is what the bottle heater is designed to do. The NX bottle heater is controlled by a pressure transducer which turns the heater on and off to acheive the desired bottle pressure. It has nothing to do with the temperature of the bottle itself, just the pressure inside of the bottle.

starscream, lol. Yeah, I have noticed they dont answer emails sometimes also.

jteuton, you sound like you are fairly informed but of incorect info.
My bottle sees 1200psi all the time and no I dont think it will blow.
I think you are also wrong about your degrees to psi, my heater keeps a pretty constant 85 and that usually keeps me at about 1000psi.
Just so you know 900 psi is considered optimum but I see more power from 1000 to 1200.

Do you actually have N2O or are you going on what you have read and what people have told you?

That's why it's not reccomended that you use it at low RPM.
