Subject: Modify my intake manifold IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99SLT 4x2 3.9V6auto Dak that I'm installing a V8TB onto. I also plan to port match the intake manifold to the V8TB, and clean up the inside of the intake (update the belly pan gasket too). Since I already have a K&N cold air intake, 180°T-stat, Autolite 3924s, relocated IAT and Flowmaster exhaust (stock exh manifolds), what are some safe, reasonable mods I can make to the intake manifold to improve performance and still maintain good low and mid-range thrust?
I'm no drag racer, I like torque!

Message: If you like torque leave the intake alone, Dodge designed that intake for torque.

Message: Aaro, do you just throw this stuff out here without reading.
Read this and tell me he wants to modify his intake and wont loose bottom end torque.

Andy, the next step would be lower gears if overall rpm isnt a huge concern.
3.55 is good and wont hurt highway rpm too bad but 3.92 is more fun!!
Hope this helped, Scott

Message: Thanks Scott (and Aaro). This is the kind of feedback that saves lots of effort, time and power! I looked at the Hughes site and learned a lot!! I have a 5.9V8 TB (kinda big for the 3.9) but based on what the Hughes site said it should be ok since it's a fuel injected engine. I think at most I might port match the manifold to the TB and head ports, radius the intake runners and leave the runner length where it is. Less work and probably the best gain. Thanks again!!
