Subject: 2001 4.7 L - Track Performance IP: Logged
Message: I just picked up my std cab 4.7 L with 5-speed and 3.92 gears. So far I've had dual exhaust and a cold-air intake (similar to Mopar). I took the truck to the local track and was anticipating good times but I could not seem to hook up. Tire spun half way down the track. Any suggestions???
Would putting larger meats (R/T Rims) help?
I look forward to your comments.

Message: Get some wide V or Z rated tires. I am waiting for the same model you described. The best pair of tires I ever owned were Michelin XGT Z4's. The only problem is they only last one season cost a fortune and were on a piece of $$ GMC Sonoma 4 cyl. Talk about a waste of good tread.

Message: Yep, tires need to be assessed. If you have the factory 255/65/16's, then the R/T tires aren't any wider, but if you have the 215's, I'd start there. You also didn't mention whether you have limited-slip... that'll make a huge difference.
