Message: I don't think i'm going to try this on my truck yet cause its my daily driver and can't mess it up. But i do have an 88 accord (ok stop laughing it was free...you know you would take it too) that i have disassembled a few times just trying to get experience with motors and i have an interesting idea. What would be wrong with disconnecting the egr tube from the exhaust and putting a small air filter on it. The only problem i see is unmetered air going to the intake and maybe throwing off you r fuel map a bit but you wouldn't be sucking hot air through the intake and it would keep it a whole cooler. lets face it....what good is a cold air intake in the you have hot exhaust gases going into your manifold. Can anybody add insight to this? Any forseen problems?...thanks...jteuton

Message: first the air filter on the egr tube would be unmetered o2 and would cause drive problems, ie lean condition, if anything block it off. second the egr provides cooling for the combustion chamber which reduces nox and just maybe pinging from too hot combustion chamber. the little rice shi**ers are designed and actually run better that way. exhaust gases are iert, read no o2 to screw with air/fuel mix.
