Message: Wow, Can’t be happier with my Single out MBRP. This was if not the 1st it was the 2nd most important and best mod I have done to date. Not only do I hear the Low rumble at idle, with a mean growl at highway speed but also can listen to the stereo with out having to crank it up.
This was the best purchase I have made so far. My next up grade will be the TB.

Message: I have the single on mine too, but it's not loud enough for my tastes; this just means I got to get rid of that 3rd cat, however, the tone is awesome.
The MBRP is also the ONLY mod I have done to my 4.7L..maybe it'll get louder with other mods..

Message: Did you notice any power increase from removing the 3rd cat? Or more importantly, any power loss? I'm a little concerned that getting rid of the 3rd cat might give up too much backpressure. I wonder if you can pass the smog/sniffer test without a 3rd cat?

Message: I got a cousin in Georgia with a 96 V6 and he took out the Cat and passed the sniffer with flying colors. I'm looking to take mine out to but do I absolutly have to get the KatBox??? It does have the O2 after the cat. Will it give me a check engine light? Im curious if anyone has done it successfuly on their 97 with no KatBox?

Message: Yes! Nice little power increase. With my Leach PCM and no third cat my 4.7 makes good power through 6,000 RPMS. I just bury the tach, then shift.
I dont have the sniffer test but if I did I would payu to put it on, then remove after the test, and do that yearly. It would be a hassle but well worth it.

Message: Dan,
You removed the cat and didnt use a Katbox and nothing has happened? What year is your Dak? Do you have to pass visual inspection or sniffer too? Im very curious about this subject.

Message: Texas97, yours is differant than our 4.7Ls. You have but one cat, we have three. We have two O2 sensors, on both precats, before and after the cats, but none after or before the third. Yours is just one, but it has one before and after it. You will need a KatBox -- now called an O2 SIMM or somthing -- to plug into the sensor after the cat in yours or you will get an error. Talk to Bernd at Speedtweaks, he'll set ya straight. Get a highflow cat and you'll not have to worry about any inspections.

Message: I know the highflow cat would be good, but i am extremely poor and would not like to have to spend that 200 plus bucks on that. If i could just gut the cat and then pay like 70 for the 02 Simm. Thaat wouldnt be that bad, but still not number one on my mod list. Oh well, i got to get some more money some how before I start messing with the cat.
