Message: Ok, no answer to thumping. How about which air intake system 1. Airaid 2. 360 3. intense performance or 4. Weapon R., is a better system for 80% highway and 20%light off-road? Or are they all pretty much equal? (2002 QC 4.7L w/AWD, 4hi, 4lo)

Message: Of the three you listed go with the 360intake. I have one and I like it. Plus you can always try different filters if you aren't into the K&N. I've heard weapon r is kinda sketchy to deal with.
I think the airraid and the 360 are priced about the same. I like the 360 because it gets rid of alot of clutter (Air box and hat).

Message: How come nobody ever mentions the intake from Volant? I think it is the only one that is C.A.R.B approved. I am considering going with it since i wont have to change anything at smog time.

Message: I have the Intense Performance with the 7" Big Mouth filter on my 3.9 and I am very happy with it. After having it on now for a little over a week, and after the computer adjusted to everything I had done to the truck (tune-up, T-Stat), the truck is much more perkier and sounds so much better than the stock setup. Installation (according to the friend who put it on), was a breeze. The 9" filter will get inthe way of the cruise control cable, so keep that in mind. Intense will send you a bracket that moves the cable, but it looked to be a bit of a pain. 7" is plenty for the 3.9 (for anyone, for that matter-ha ha).

Message: Thanks to all. Down to either the Intense or the 360. The 360 appears to come with 9" filter. Does this cause any installation problems? Intense w/7" powerstack @ $125.00 seems economical as well as effective.

Message: Pardon my ignorance, still learning, but with the airintake is it necessary to add exhaust upgrade? I plan on 180° t & PCM upgrade. Chicken or egg question.
Checked sticker in glove box. Has 3.55 gears, what is "torque conver lock"? Believe diff is open per axle sticker, but too cold/late to recheck.
If open diff as I presume, what recommendations as to LSD for rear diff?

Message: not to mention shunpike1...you can get a K&N genII intake system from speedtewaks.net for $255(thas with shipping), whereas the 360 is $200 with shipping, so just $55 more, BUT the K&N is WAY better than the 360, it is made out of high grade plastic, which conducts less heat than the metal in the 360s, less heat means more HP, and not to mention the lifetime warranty that the K&N system has, so I say invest the extra $55 and get the TOP OF THE LINE.

Message: One prob. There is NO FIPK for the 4.7L either unless its some kind of new thing. This isn't even an option for shunpike. The 360 connects directly to the TB. The aluminum is powder coated so it doesn't even heat up that much. Besides that the heat radiating off the tube isn't going to effect the air being sucked into the TB because of the amount of air that will be flooding through the tube. The only time the air may heat up is if you are sitting at idle. Then as soon as you take off again, the air will cool back off. The air tube is not a trap. Shunpike, you do have options besides the 360 if you opt out of it. RESEARCH it first though to see if the systems people talk about are even available for you engine. Or you could just build your own out of ABS plastic and buy a a K&N or S&B filter for it. Total cost might run just over a $100...might.

The 4.7L 360 intake is $180 with shipping.
(difference is the heat shield for 5.9's)
I have one of the 360intakez and recommend it. The tube doesn't get very hot because it's powdercoated, looks a lot better, and doesn't crack right and left like the Mopar/K&N kits do.

Message: Had previously emailed K&N, they do not make fipk for the 2002 4.7 (yet). Airaid & Intense Performance both make a system. Quick D also.
Volant pricey in comparison and makes one for 2001 (assume can tweak to 2002). Think I will opt for 360.
