Message: I've read most all of the "knock and ping" postings and always felt that this engine just sounded harsh. Has anyone played around with venting the engine better? or is this strictly and ignition situation?

I've played with ignition (custom timing curves), T'stats, different plugs, and different wires. The results vary on the fix though.
Venting the engine...You mean with different breathers? or actually letting the heat out of the engine compartment?

Message: I mean venting with different breathers. I'm not familiar enough with this oiling system, but if there was more or less "blow off", maybe it would smooth out the whole system. Almost like a motorcycle engine.
