Message: A supercharger is belt driven and a turbo is exhaust driven. Both increase the pressure of the intake charge - they just accomplish this in different ways.

Message: Two of those books he mentioned: Maximum Boost, and Turbocharging, should be considered MUST reads by anyone who has, or is contemplating a turbomotor.
Corky Bell, goes into some additional depth about why turbos are superior to superchargers, it used to be on his website (http://www.bellengineering.net/), but since he's now written a book about supercharging, I guess you can only read it in Maximum Boost.
If you decided to go with either option, here's my word of advice.....get the flat out largest and most efficient intercooler you can! Check out htttp://www.spearcointercoolers.com They have some good info about core sizing and cfm requirements etc.
