Subject: What could I do to my 5.2 L To improve HPw/ low $ IP: Logged
Message: I am pretty sure I will be buying a Dodge Dakota 5.2L, 2wd, Reg cab truck. It already has the 3.90 gears in it but I will probably want more power for a low cost so I was thinking about some kind of intake, and probably a H pipe w/ Flowmasters. Any suggestions on the Piping or the intake would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!!!!

Message: Put a flowmaster muffler or ca full catback system on it. I have a flowmaster muffler with the stock pipe on mine, I love it (converted from glass pack). The stock pipe on my 95 was in great shape and did not have any significant "crimped" bends plus it is 2.5 inches already. I don't think you can get an crossover pipe since the 2 into 1 collector is up front, it is not a dual exhaust.
Read through this forum for other great ideas.

Message:
If this is a '97+ 5.2L:
Exhaust - Headers w/Y-Pipe and a good aftermarket Cat-Back system. (Dynomax has a complete set for this.)
Intake - K&N Gen-II or QuickD and a modified Throttle Body from Flometrics
Computer: Mopar Performance PCM
Cooling: 180 Degree T'Stat
Ignition: MSD-6 (P/N# 6200) or Digital-6+, Autolite 3923 Plugs, MSD Blaster-SS Coil, Brass contact Cap and Rotor
Plug Wires: Taylor, SplitFire, Jacobs, Magnecore, MSD, Accell...you're preference, they're all good.
That's just for starters.

Message: Intake K&N or AirRaid, relocate you IAT sensor to your intake pipe, muffler, Autolite's 3923's. If you don't plan to do much to your engine stick with the original 2.5 inch pipe and just put a muffler on it. I've got a Flomaster and I love the sound it's got. Deep, mellow throaty sound. All of the above can be done your self for about $300. After doing so you'r truck's PCM (computer) needs to relearn and adjust your mixtures accordingly. About a 200 mile process. I reset mine but I'm told that you don't need to.

Message: If your 97 is an automatic you will have to go with the hypertech power programmer III. Mopar doesn't make a PCM for that combo.
One of the best mods I have done to my 97 is the 1.7 roller rockers from crower. They are a little pricy but I believe completely worth it.
