Subject: best factory heads for 4.7L? IP: Logged
Message: Anyone done any research on this?
Best years, casting numbers,etc.?
What are the HO cams and how do I get some? Is it a big pain to change the cams on this engine?
I have a 2.5L turbo 4cylinder DODGE Omni so I know how most SOHC setups work, but is the 4.7 a tappet and bucket or does it have a roller-follower like the 2.2/2.5l 4 cylinders?
Who is KRC and what kind of cam are they engineering on? What are some HP goals? Driveability issues? Requires custom programming?
I read something about this on an earlier post...
I have an awesome core supplier for engine parts who can probably get me any cylinder head I want for cheap, and I have a best friend who is MOPAR to the bone who does cylinder head and intake porting professionally and has a flowbench for R & D.. I might get some good core heads and a stock intake and see how much they flow and see if my friend could improve them enough to make a big HP difference... What do you guys think?
Would anyone be interested in ported heads for their trucks (or jeeps for that matter)?? He would probably do them pretty cheap (because he is a DODGE GUY!!) less than $600 total depending on level of work to get improvement.. He just finished a mutual friend's 2002 SS camaro with a TNT nitrous shot. He put his ported heads and a Comp Cam in it... SHould go High 10's now, was 11.70 at 118 before... Very Nasty.
All and any info is appreciated.
Later,
Ryan

Message: The hottest heads for the 4.7L motor are the ones from the 2000-2002 motors. They flow the best and were much hotter than any of the other Dodge 4.7 heads from other years.
As for KRC, I'd go to KRCperformance.com and they'll probably know more there.

Message: 4.7 was introduced in Jeeps before Dodge. Don't know if any heads were different but our exhaust manifolds are supposed to be better.
