Subject: 4.7L heads IP: Logged
Message: Has anyone thought about, or has had their heads milled. The stock compression is about 9:1, isn't it, well with some higher octane I'm sure it'll be ok if it were in the higher 9's lower 10's. and if so how much power gain do you think you'd get?

Message: Someone correct me if I'm wrong but i believe their is little to mill on those heads to keep them in spec. To raise the compresion on a 4.7 you need to swap pistons. Remember overhead cam, don't want slack in your timing chain do you!

Message: The problem is you can only take something like .006" or .007" off. Doesn't add up to much.

Message: I saw how krc offers porting on the heads for the 4.7. What is this and does it help out performance much?

Message: Wow looks like things are really moving along with 4.7 mod's.
I went and looked at a ASP pulley but my cost up here in Canada was $590.00?? (comes with new harmonic balancer)so I passed on that. Need to figure out what to do with my PCM. Mailing to Kenne-Belle in the states is not an option.
How do you expect to get these things to go faster?? Ya you could go high comp pistons or forced air in witch case you wouldn't want to go to high on the compression.
