Subject: Removed K&N,gained HP IP: Logged
Message: This sounds stupid but, I had a homebrew that I removed all of the airbox except the airhat and put a Cone K&N filter on it. Well, I also have a Fastman 52mm Throttle body also. But anyway, the filter got so dirty that I just decided to take it off and replace stock box then POOF more HP and TQ!! I thought it would be just the reverse! Can't understand why..and no I didn't have a dyno or anything it was just that noticable so it makes me wonder if all these "cold air intakes" are worth 200-300 dollars?! Whats ya'lls opinion on this?

Message: I've found that the high flow filters really only affect top end horsepower. With the factory engineered airbox you probably get the right airflow/turbulance to keep the air/fuel vaporized.

Message: You know, K&Ns are reuseable. Running a
clean filter at all times is your best bet for
performance, aside from keeping gas in the
tank...

Message: Make sure you don't over-oil the K&N filter. An over-oiled filter will have too much restriction. Found out the hard way on my motorcycle.
