Message: I got my computer back from ASE.
Hear is the FACTS!
1. $340 + SHIPPING
2. Sent it in on Monday got it back Thursday (overnight both ways)
3. IT DOES NOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY! ASE covers the computer.
4. Speed limiter removed ONLY IN OVERDRIVE, NOT 3rd on autos. Something to do with how the computer reads the speedometer and software. I tested out the removal personally and it is gone.
5. On my test runs, on a marked off 1/4 mile on a country road,(NOT OFFICAL!) picked up 2 mph at the end. This is not definate so don't go nuts about this. I'll know for sure when the track here in indianapolis opens. (April)
6. Has to have 91+ octane.
7. Yes, They can do 01 4.7 engines. (mine is)
I don't know about gas mileage. I'll let you all know when I run a full tank of gas out.
I will get dyno numbers as soon as I can. I already have a baseline. Hopefully next week.
They claim 15-18 hp and 25lbs-ft torque.
Just the facts!

Message: Do you think it would hurt the engine or the new flash if you ran 89 octane the first tank when you install it? Cuz I just got my Kenne Bell flash back today and I already had a full tank of 89 when I took it off.

Message: I refuse to do a butt dyno!
Butt dynos are the reason there is so much confusion on this site. Sure, it's easy to say it "feels" faster, butt, I was sure my truck was faster without a muffler, butt, I was dead wrong.
They are trying to fit me in at Kenny Brown Performance for a dyno run on Saturday the 16th. If not then, it will be the next Friday.
Gas mileage is at least as good if not better.
First tank was what I would get normally although I had my foot in it much more.
Get hard numbers off a dyno or track times or don't say anything.

Message: I agree w/you Heath 100%. I got a baseline for my truck from stock,,and like you actually lost a little from the exhaust,,,but FEELS like I made it up when the intake was on. I'll be heading back to dyno for some hard numbers too pretty soon to see where I'm at right now.
Then go back after I get the ASE chip installed.

Message: If I get 10hp and 20lbs-ft TQ from the rear wheels
I will be satisfied. How many upgrades can achieve that AT THE REAR WHEELS for less than $340 and remove the speed limiter? There are many claims, but very few REAL dynos numbers.

Did you ever dyno your 4.7? What were the gains? What are you getting for mileage now? any suggestions for those of us that want to chip our 4.7's?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Cheers!

Message: 'Butt Dyno'
When it feels like your butt is pushed back in the seat more.
Usually a subjective response from having less money in your wallet, and just 'knowing' it feels faster.
Hell, there was a post here recently, that swore by the gains of just taking the rubber flap off next to the radiator. (nothing else done or modified!)-give me a break ;-)

Message: Well the limiter only removed in overdrive sucks!
I have a 2001 CC 4.7 Auto and my limiter is at 98 MPH.
And what if a get mods to get to 102 in the 1/4, I can't get there with out shifting into overdrive?.....that's weak, the truck cuts out now right where it seems to really be starting to get some power in 3rd gear. that would really hurt in the 1/4 mile. it would still cut out.
Does anyone know any flashes that will let 3rd gear wind out? even if the limiter was at 130 I would be fine with that. sure not going to get that fast in the 1/4 mile.
This is a big problem, if I decide to spray it one day I would hit the limiter before the end of the 1/4.....what to do??

Message: Had the Kenne Bell OPTIMIZER II done on my 2002 4.7 5 Speed Dak. Pre Optmizer Dyno was 191 RWHP @ 4900 rpm after Optimizer 221 RWHP @ 5200 rpm moved speed limiter to 135 mph. On the Auto-Bahn I give the Germans hell. A lot of the BMer's and 5 Series Benz'es leave me in the top end, but up to about 125 mph I'm glued to them like white on Rice.
2002 Dak 4.7 w/ Kenne Bell Optimizer II, Intense Z-tube w/7" S&B, Terminator Super Flow with Y-pipe back 3" exhaust, 3rd CAT removed, slight drop w/Vinyl Tanue Cover The Auto-Bahns are a blast here in Germany... ;)
