Look in your glovebox... There will be a white sticker on the inside. It gives the paint codes, rear end and gears, etc...

Message: If it's old and someone peeled it off etc, there should be a metal tag on one of the bolts on the differential itself.

Message: Well let me see if I can explain this properly.
That number tells you that for every 3.55 turns of your drive shaft your tires rotate once. So lets take for example a set of 2.73s which are common in the automatic F-body. Good highway driving, good top speed but not real great out of the hole. Good gas milage. Ok I see a lot of guys on here with 3.92s. I assume that is good for towing/offroading in Daks. Good low end, still alright gas mileage and good for the 1/4 mile. But shouldn't hurt your Highway crusing too much. When you start getting above that top speed should decrease, but 1/4 mile MPH will go up because the motor will be going quicker through the RPM band. 4.10s and up are good for towing and racing. I don't know to many people running those all the time except for heavy duty applictions Does that sound about right guys?
