Subject: FINNALLY, my M-1 is on IP: Logged
Message: well i started at about 1 o'clock, and ended at about 7:00.
way easier than i thought it would be! everything went like clock work. when i pulled off the maifold, i couldnt find the last bolt. thats because the stock bolt BROKE OFF! i had to go to the store and get 2 nuts and pull out the stud.
because of this, the whole back of the engine was caked on with dirt and grime. the thing that took the longest was cleaning the engine.
i havent started the truck yet, because im going to let the silicone dry over night, before putting water in the block.
ill let you know how it drives tomorow

Message: On my R/T it added just over 20 peak hp, but at 5200RPM, I was making 40hp more than with the beer barrel. The hp curve was much flatter. With beer barrel, I was making just over 200hp at 5200RPM. With the 2bbl M1 I was still at 245hp at 5200RPM.

Message: Crusty, I think you might be right, I must have just been seeing a lot of V6s with them and I was told different (by only one person, lol), but since I havn't heard of too many (or I guess none now) people with the 4.7 with it, I'm guessing not. Yet another thing the 4.7Ls are screwed out of. JBA headers were another thing since they don't work with Bernd's turbo system. Wow...intake...exhaust, 180 degree stat..bigger TB...cool. The 4.7s market sucks major ass. Note to self, call Mopar today.

Message: Not sure what the new price is on the 2bbl M1 since Mopar had a price increase this year. I guess since they were such a hot item last year and it seemed they were always on backorder they decided to increase the price to make more money on something that actually sells real good and actually has a big benifit for the aftermarket crowd.

Message: The only real lose is in TQ. You have to remember another thing. Both dyno runs were on two differnet days on different dyno's. That coudl account for some difference. But the amount of gain woudl still be substantial after 4K RPM where you can use it more. I can definitly feela difference from 3K on up with the 2bbl, and can't really say the bottom end suffered very much at all. I stil have traction problems, and can spin them just as easy as before.

Message: Oh yeah I can definatley feel the top end no complaints at all about that, but it sorta bogs through the 2-3000 range after it shifts to 2nd gear. Just wondering what mod I did to my truck would take care of that.

Message: well after driveing for a couple of miles, i found out this thing pulls!
at low rpm's i havent seemed to loose any torque, in fact i think i gained some.
the pcm hasnt learnd the mod yet so ill see what happens latter.
it revs faster, and the exhaust sounds deeper, and a little more raspy. (in other words WAY BETTER)
so far its a toss up which is better, the 1.7's or the M-1. i know the 1.7's definatly complimented the manifold tho.

Message: well there is no adjustment on the 1.7's.
i wouldnt say the manifold was easier, just the rockers were more of a tedious job. you have to crank the engine over by hand untill the piston is @ TDC, and turn the nut 3/4 of a turn, then lock it down with the allen nut. multiply that job by 8 and that is the project.
i think i got a little more out of the 1.7's, but the pcm hasnt learnd the program yet, so we will see

Message: I'm sure its a little more difficult to tell really just how much top end you get out of the M-1 if you already have the rockers which increase the topend anyway. But I can imagine how much harder its pulling now w/ the combo on it. Are you noticing any bog in the engine in any range?

Message: yea it is impossible for me to tell how much just the manifold does, but all i know is, I LIKE IT.
i havent really noticed any boging at all, but i havent really got on it that much to tell. also i can tell the pcm is still learning. i should be able to see what is going on in a couple of days.
i am also going to relocate my vacume line going into the map sensor and see what that does.

HSKR- Great dyno numbers. Can't wait to dyno mine. My 5.2 was at 243rwhp at 5200rpm BEFOR the M1 swap with my 5 speed.

Message: My 1.7 RR helped that bog. The bog was only present if the truck had a bad start (stock RR), meaning that it had no traction. I haven't tested it much, since I just past the 50 mile mark. It does sweeps that RPM gauge fast in the upper RPM range (1.7).
I still have my headers to put on :) I can't wait to see how much that will help.
Summit was able to send me a pair of Mopar MAGNUM Polished covers for $130esh! The dealer wanted $250 up to $300 range for the Magnum ones! HA
So why does the MAGNUM PERFORMANCE cost more the the MOPAR PERFORMANCE writing?
All I can say is, the engine is running and looking great! I'll post some pictures after I install the headers!
