Subject: Throttle Body cleaning... IP: Logged
Message: What is the easiest way to clean your TB? These TB's on the 2000 Dak 4.7L's are notorious for getting gummed up? Is Techron the best for cleaning that out? I'm not into taking the top of my engine apart to clean it though.

Message: Just remove the air hat. Two 10 mm bolts, and the air cleaner plumbing 2 8mm clamps. Then grap some carb cleaner and a tooth brush and scrub the TB and plate. Then to clean your IAT port. The little slot on the TB on the bottom. Start the truck up (it's ok to run it without the air cleaner for a little bit). Then spray carb cleaner in the slot while working the throttle.

Message: Just to add to what KenDawg said, be careful that you don't get anything solid down inside the intake that could damage your rings and cylinder walls.

Message: Excellent instructions at speedtweaks.com - in the tips & tricks section. Sounds like the best way if not the easiest, shouldn't be much tougher but a lot safer.

Message: WARNING!!!
Everytime i do this i have the same problem. I have the F&B 48mm TB on my V6 and apparently the tolerences are so tight that the slightly sticky residue of the cleaner will cause the blades to "stick" open hardly enough to notice but the engine notices and the RPM go way up when you try to stop. Scared the hell out of me when i transferred the TB to my new truck (cleaning it while it was off) and though i screwed up my new truck. My solution is after i clean it i lube the blades and bores slightly with millitec lube. Viola
