Just got done doing the HO cams. Took 3 hours to do. Everything went pretty smooth but alot of stuff has to come off to do this. I didn't bother with the springs because they measure the same pressure st the same hight. Seems like I have more torque but the computer hasn't has time to adjust as of yet. Took it to 5500 to make sure everything was good. Engine sounds good so far. Hopefuly I will have some perf numbers by the end of next week.

Ported 68mm throttle body, IAT adjuster, 3" flowmaster cat back, TPS @ .76V, 4" cold air, Roadmaster active suspention, Removed Third cat. Electric fan Convertion, HO cams installed.
Working on adjustable fuel pressure with return.

$150 Cnd after employee dicount. Got them to order them for a jeep with a 4.7 HO engine. Took it to my friends place and back last night seems to pull a little stronger. I would just about definitly say that I gained torque and throttle response. Little hard to tell on high end but seems to rev through the RPM range better. The reprogramed PCM would be great right about now but I have run out of money.:( No more mods for CW for a while. Gotta get some debt paid down.

My advice is if you are going to pay someone to put in the cams. Wait for a aftermarket cam there is not a big difference. Not one that I have felt yet. I sure cruises down the highway easy though. I just barely touch the throttle to do 60mph.

CW, well even if you didn't feel a huge improvement, at least you did something. My guess is that aftermarket cams aren't going to be cheap, so you probably got a pretty good "bang for the buck".

C'mon CW whip out the plastic...take out a second mortgage...It's only money! HAHA! I jus' know that a new cam with the ported heads and a pcm is the way to go! Hell you know alot better than me! Anyways it looks like this summer Dr.Q's gonna get busy with his dak! I'd give your computor 5-7 days of regular driving before she kick's in. I remember after I reset it after I worked the TB grabbed me right by the chochskis when it kicked in!

Cool.. and 3 hours work, thats not long at all considering cams are a major part of the engine ;) so how much time did it take to remove and replace the cams after you had access to it?

No 3 hours wasn't to bad. That is with all nessesary tools including the timing chain wedges. Once you have the valve covers off it is a 15 minute job but the valve covers are nesled in there pretty tight. Injectors, coils, oil filler tube, wiring harness, heater lines stuff like that all has to be moved out of the way.

On a small performance note I am now sure that the cams gave me more bottom end and throttle reponse. Don't think it did much on top but really hard to tell because the roads are still slippery. Traction may be a thing of the past we will see I guess.
