Subject: Effects of a heavy foot
IP: Logged

Message:
Does anyone know if there are any bad effects of gunning the throttle every now and then ? I always wondered if sometimes when you decide you want to put it to the floor if it has any negative effects on the engine? Or is ok as long as your oil is good!?
If anyone knows.. it would be good to know

I got 2 tickets by the SAME cop in the SAME day last week. One for rolling a stop sign, and one for going 75mph in a 50 zone. I felt I didn't do either. First off the cop was 7/10 of a mile away when he said I rolled the stop, and comming towards me, on the other side of a rail road crossing that sets up on a small hill. So when I protested that one he said, "oh, your tires didn't come to a complete stop." How the hell are you going to tell me you can see my tires? Then I turned the corner and drove like 1/2 a mile and he pulled me over again! He said that he clocked me doing 75 in a 50. I said let me see the radar! ( My detector never went off) So then he changes the story and says "Well you appeared to be traveliing in excessive speed." Being a military police man I took that to court and won, sort of.......$150 in court costs. But no points on my liscense. So the effects of speed?........If a cop makes the crap up when he sees a decked out bright yellow dokota..........priceless, especialy when you wink at him in the trial when the judge gives the rueling. :-)

I'm stationed out in Camp Lejeune but I'm from Texas... so on one of the long trips back, I was almost back... in Georgia it was about 2am I suppose... I like driving at night, no traffic. So anyway, I have like this clever (I think so anyway) plan that I always use. I'll do 10 over the speed limit, and when someone flies past me... I'll put myself 2 car lengths behind them. hehe... so anyway... this guy flies past me, so I follow... and I have trouble keeping up, cause this was on my old 01 Quad cab that had the 100mph cut off. I stayed at 99 and followed him for about an hour. Then we went up this big hill... my gut just told me to slow down... then we started going down it. All of a sudden.. all I see is blue lights flashing in the median, and his brake lights going off. I promptly slowed to 70, as did he.... guess who got a ticket going 100 mph in a 65 ? sometimes I think I'm just too clever.... anyway.. works so far... and if you ever see a solar yellow 99 CC R/T following you... it's me.

I do go to Coastal.. but not in the morning... and my classes are normally on base unless we are going to use the library or whatever. So far on base I've counted 4 other R/T's than my own. I'd like to get a few of us together in the area to head to Coastal Plains Dragway.... think it would be fun. I'll be there sunday... cant really miss me with the yellow truck...

Yeah i agree. It would be nice to get a little club going or something here in Jacksonville. I'll have to try and be at Coastal Plains this Sunday though. Don't expect me to even try and race though. I've got a v6 with offroad type tires on right now, and I'm not much for making an ass out of myself. Heh.

finally someone I can identify with. :) Don't get me wrong. For a 'base' V6, the Dakota's is pretty dang smooth. But I'm also smart, and recognize when people can pound me into the ground. Once I get the truck paid off I will probably have a V8 dropped into it, but for now I'm fine with my V6.
