Subject: Redline on 2.5L? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 98 2.5L with no tach in the instrument cluster. I just installed an aftermarket tach, and would like to know what the redline is supposed to be on this engine. I discovered that going by sound, I'd never had this engine over 3500 rpm - thats about 95 mph :)

Message: I'm not concened about how high I'm going to get in in 5th gear - btw, I drive a manual, not an automagic. That was simply a comment meaning the engine sounds like it's turning alot more revs than it was. As for the 2.5 being slow - I don't have any numbers to prove it, but I suspect that if properly driven (this is assuming the drive has a tach and a manual trans) it might suprise more than just a few people. I certainly don't have any problems pulling out into traffic if the road is dry. If the road isn't dry, hookup is for $h1t.
