well folks, i did it, i dont know how i did it, but i did it. i convinced the wife to let me trade in my 00 4.7 for a 00 R/T. needless to say, im pretty pumped. but, ive spent all my time educating myself as to what to do to modify the 4.7. i have no idea where to even start with the 5.9. so....what are the mods to consider...im especially curious as to which intake i should use with this setup. all info is appreciated.

thanks

just waitin to kill the warranty so i can get to work! (5000 to go)

I would make my first mod a trans go shift kit for that automatic. then probably look at the entire exhaust system.

based on what ive seen,u have to spend a truck bed full of money on something that still does not run as good as a stock FORD LIGHTING.so whats the point.speed parts will be here soon for the 4.7 they all ready have them on the JEEP OVERLAND 265HP.save your money and get your 4.7 back.if you have not heard, the auto trans is the weak link on the r/t.

In my opinion on test driving the 4.7 and the 5.9 in a matter of 10 min. I'd say the 4.7 seemed weaker by far than the 5.9...seemed like the 4.7 had to struggle and pull the RMP's to get some speed built up. The R/T just seemed to scream RACE ME.

As far as the mods go Mills, I started off w/ a K&N then put a good muffler on and dualed out the tips...then went for the minor stuff like wires, brass cap & rotor, plugs, & maybe a coil...then go for the 50...52mm TB, then some headers, the M-1 2bbl was a great mod. My next mod will be the 1.7 RR but thats after I have all the other stuff put on.

Hope that helps,

~Mike~

By the way...the intent of that post was not to stir up another 4.7 vs. 5.9 post it was just an observation and personal opinion and to pump the guy up about his new truck...nothing else. ;)

Everyone knows I'm fond of my 4.7 but I'm happy for you Mills. Anytime you can get what you want .... that's a good thing!

The R/T gives off an "attitude" that's difficult to duplicate. I'm sure you'll be grinning from ear to ear for quite a while! Since smokin' tires is what the R/Ts do best... I'd start saving for another set of tires right away!

well...it was a long and tough decision...but in the end i decided to keep my 4.7. i just didnt think the R/T felt like it had much more...and there were times where i was sure that it actually had less. i also decided that what i really wanted was the cool little sticker that said "R/T" simply for recognition....so now im working on a personalized sticker for the 4.7...hope to have it soon. the way i see it, 4.7 guys (or gals)deserve to have a badge as well. thanks to everyone for their advice/opinions.
