Start with the 2001 5.9, in a club cab. Add:
S/C 8# (Vortech/Paxton)
TB - Fastman or Flometrics
M1 2bbl
1.7 Roller Rockers
headers
cat-back, maybe no-cat
electric fan, stocker removed (not sure on this one, I live in TX)

How close do you think this would come? What more would really help (assuming the power can get to the ground) - RT heads? Of course low 13's would be great to help compete with those modded Lightnings...

If you haven't guessed, I have some of the above already - TB, Headers, M1, cat-back :)

Traction bars ar relatively inexpensive and will help. I also think Nitto makes some street legal Drag tires. Not sure though about that one. Also if you go the route of a supercharger, heat kills power. An intercooler will help tremendously.

For $40 you can also get a IAT Adjuster from Speedtweaks.

MSD Ignition would help.

Let us know if you do these mods. Maybe hit a dyno and fine tune it for more power.

go to blackdakrt.com, and look up scott q's dakota. he has about the same mods you have, and he put down 389 hp and 487 tq, on a 6# pulley. he's adding a blower cam, and 2.02 heads and he's expecting 500hp at the wheels!

i talked to him at spring fling, and he said he beat a 01 "L" by about 4 car lengths. (on the street)

Wow... not bad considering it looks like that dyno was done at 7#? I saw 12 and thought 'uh-oh'... the 360's don't usually stand up well to this much boost. I'd been getting a bit worried about how fast we could actually make because of the pistons not holding up. I'm surprised a Powerdyne would hold up to a 12# boost if he ever goes that high...

Oh yeah, I do have the IAT adj, but I haven't used it in a while since its cold enough as is right now (and my engine loves it!).

And right on for the MSD... cannot forget that, for sure!

I was going to say... Taking a Lightening with a 360 is a simple matter of aquiring a blower and a few small tweaks and mods and a set of decent sticky tires.

Nope... I'd need a custom flash since I have a 2001. I guess with a blower that's what you'd want anyway so as not to advance the timing too much.

I guess I felt I was a bit farther away from 'catching' the lightning that I actually am. The reason being that I have only 1 set of timeslips - 15.7 to 15.6 with a 2.1 60', but it was at about 100 degrees and humid that day...
