Subject: Raced a Camaro Z28...

It was rainy out, and he pulled up beside me and let me hear his exhaust, he was about 3 car lengths ahead when he let me hear his exhaust and his signal for "go for it", it was slick, but I figured, what the hell, so I punched it, I was gaining on him when we came to a red light, so we almost evend up, he was about a car length ahead when it turned green and we were on again. It was slick so I couldn't floor it, I was gaining on him when at 25 mph I lost traction, so from about 25 to 40 mph I was just spinnin my wheels trying to keep it straight down the road BUT I kept with him even with no traction, I let off and let him go. I KNOW if it was dry out, I'd took him, I followed him back to my apartment complex, so hopefully I'll find him and hook up on dry pavement, then he's mine....

Hell yeah dude...everytime I see one of those w/ the huge ass tail fin and jap letters on the back I rev up my engine and it scares em and they don't wanna race. Raced this mexican dude in a Fiero w/ loud exhaust but he didn't stand a chance. I'll go check that out...maybe I'll see U down there.

Any mods to yours yet? First mod I'd get is exhaust.

Heck yeah, post any meets in DA!

No mods yet, the truck is "hot off the press" so I want to make sure I don't have any defective parts under the hood before I play, I would hate to have to take it back under warrenty with a blower on it.

I think my first mod will be a K&N (if you even count that as a mod) but I'm holding out for a powerdyne, running 6#'s, there is a mod shop in dallas that will put it all together for me, after the powerdyne I'd say an intercooler will be in order, but I want to hold off a while for these mods, I'm thinking after all that, I gotta get a custom "lightning killer" sticker or something, just to make them try for it.

Yeah right!!!!!!!!!!!I think you all are full of sheit I have a 4.7 and I have a module intake.......... the works. My Q M times are slower than most on this website I figure from location to location they will differ. my point is if I am slower where ilive so are camaros then right! So it all works out.I dont even come close to a z 28 in a race those are 13 second cars stock and easy as all hell to put in the 11's so you guys need to lay off the crack pipe or race somebody that is racing you not just reving ther engines>

I did not beat him folks, he beat me, I have never raced a Z28 on dry pavement, for all I know, he may have had a traction problem too, but as it stood, I did gain on him (slowley, but I was still comin up on him) until I broke loose. If I came in here saying I blew his doors off by 5 car lengths, then yeah, come in and slam me, this race was only up to 40 mph, therefore 1/4 mile times wont' figure in properly because aerodynamics at 40 mph don't kill you like they do at 90. Drop the R/T motor in a camaro and that time will not be the same as the 5.9 in the dak. Part of the reason it is a 13 second car is because it is not a brick wall pushing through the air like a truck, lets see, I've seen stock R/T's run 15's, if the camaro is 13 seconds stock, then why would I be full of it saying I could hang with him through first gear under 40 miles per hour? 5.9 = tourqe, off the line power.

If you READ my post, you'll see that I mention STOP LIGHTS, this was not a 1/4 mile drag on a track

FYI stock Z28 is not a 13 sec car. A stock Z28 SS is a 13.05 sec car(avg).

Now a superchanged z28(the SS package) pulls 13's so there is not way the regualr z28 can pull those off. My bet is around low-mid 14's an maybe high 14's for an auto but again these are my best idea for a ball park. I almost bought myself I z28 and I did do alot of research on what they can do so ....

Did you know the a 2001 stock z28 SS(5sp) will just barely take a C4 Vette(auto) stock by about 20 thousandths of a second. That is a driver race but it's odd to think a corvette take by it's younger brother.

I just want to see someone with a Stock R/T a good set of nitto's and enough weight in the back to get some decent traction and see what kind of times they pull in... I mean... stock R/T sits there and spins for a good second, if you push it to the floor, before it actaully gets a grip and takes off... I'd just like to see what a stock one with some sticky tires pulls in the 1/4.

Fucc off!!My truck runs15.1s and I see you guys running low 14's yeah right not in sacramento california.Unless you have seriuos money into the motor like heads pistons cam etc....The fastest dkota I have seen in sac besides me is a 15.5 r/t.He had mopar computer and k&n intake kit.My friends 98 Z28 is a auto and he has borla muffler and shortie headers that all and he ran 12.725. I know daks are fast that is why I got one but It does not compare to a camaro I didnt expect it to but somehow you guys think that your truck does!If you want to come and race then lets get it on!!!You might run faster times on this site but if we are head to head I bet your times are not as good here as they are in your hometown!!!Now to NIPs if you wanna talk crap Know what you are talking about a SS camaro is not supercharged you clown so research better!!Tell me something else if you guys are faster than me then why does kennebelle supercharged dakota only run 14.9 in cali when stock dakotas run 14 every where else on this site.So gentlemen suck it up and speek the truth or show up and I will prove your not as fast as you think!!!!!!!!!

I wonder, throwing some sand bags in the back should help the off the line jump, with that much torque, the trade off for weight vs traction is probobly worth it, something I'll have to try.

A Fierro?!! C'mon..that wasn't very nice. You were a bully when you were a kid weren't you?

I seem to remember like C&D getting 13.9 in the Z28s or something like that, manual/V8 combo. The SSs are even faster. On wet pavement from stoplight to stoplight, yes, I believe he was able to keep up with it. On a dry track on the 1/4 mile, he would have been hurting. Also, what Camaro owner keeps their cars stock?! I think that's a sin.. If we wanted just plain fast, we would have all gotten that Z28, but instead we got about, if not, the best trucks on the market, and they still do DAMN good against these cars. Stock NSX is only 13.5 1/4 -- and those are the new ones!

Wait a minute... I just caught a problem with what NiP's said... SS arent Supercharged... Camero SS is a ram air... Thats why i said there the equivlent of a transam... I dont know about NiP's but as for dakota/cali... If you know guys who are only running 14.9 with a supercharged R/T i assume Then i would think about suggesting to your friends to hang up the keys and start thinking about car pooling with someone else or taking the bus to work... and umm there must be alot of stock CC R/T's in sac cause 15.5 is what a stock CC R/T runs... Doesnt matter if your in sac... or your in candy land. Z28 with Borla and shortie headers might be lucky to break low 14's high 13's on a good day...
