Bernd thanks...I like it,but don't you think it will pull to much hot hair?I think I like the one from Intense Performance better.I emailed K$N,asking them when they where coming out with one for the 4.7 (I really like the one they have for the R/T)they said this summer they will have one.I am doing a lot off looking around for one,the weather is still crappie....Don't want to put it on tell spring.

Bernd...after studying the picture of the new airaid system for the 4.7L,I don't think it will work any better than a K&N drop in filter for the stock air box. What is your opinion?

Hi guys, I agree i think it wouldn't work as good
as the other versions, unless you change the
"black Box" on top of the engine also. I decided
to do a little experiment on mine. I am still
using the original air box, with a K&N drop in,
but i decided to take out the black hat or what
ever you call that thing. I used a 3 inch black
PVC elbow, 6" piece of place straight pipe and one
3" rubber connector with 2 hose clamps..all bought
at the local hardware store. I haven't seen any
increase in MPG, but i will haev to say that the
trottel responce is better and almost feels like a
little more torque. Maybe its just me, but it does
feel different. I might try and find a K&N cone
filter and take out the original air box but we
will see....does anyone know of where i can get
just the filter and what size opening it has?!?!?

I have the Airaid air intake pictured in the link on my 2000 4.7. Here is my take on it...

I originally purchased a 3 inch cat-back exhaust. After installation, I noticed that all the sound that the truck made was coming from the rear of the truck, and I wanted a more "balanced" front to rear sound. I also noticed that during wide open throttle shifts, the engine bogged noticeably with just the exhaust on...my guess is that the computer didn't quite know what to do because air was leaving the engine a little quicker than before. So I got the Airaid. Not an ideal solution because it uses the stock air hat and corrugated tubing. But it sounds much more balanced with a nice intake growl. Also, the extra air flow caused the engine to stop bogging during the WOT shifts. Performance? Well, my large and highly tuned butt-dyno says it's quicker. It seems to pull harder at high RPM than it did before. And a run down the track gave me a 16.9 at 80, on a 75 degree evening with a heavy topper on the back and about 150 pounds of tools in the bed. I also managed to walk away nicely from a 99 Durango 318 4X4 that happened to run next to me on the track.

The rubber seal on the top touches the under-hood liner, limiting hot air sucked into the engine, but I think the thing would work better if it replaced the intake hat and corrugated tube, and offered a larger and straighter air intake to the bottom of the stock air box. As I said, not ideal, but it is better than the stock airbox lid if for no other reason than the better sound.

I switch from the Airaid system to the Intenceperformance Z tube with the 9" filter. No contest, The Ztube is faster and sound better.

I have the Z-Tube with the 9 inch big mouth filter and a Magnoflow exhaust with 3inch piping and 3 1/4 tip. When you say the z tube sounds better, what does it sound like?

With no change to the exhaust yet, adding the Ztube changed to sound of the exhaust to a deeper stronger sound.

in my opinion make one I just used
3 1/2 inch exhaust pipe bent about
90 degrees it comes off that black
plastic piece that connects to the
throttle body..it cost $15.00 the
cone shaped k&n was around $50.00
it helped the truck also with
no cats and a dual 2 1/2 inch exhaust
just that produced 204hp - 278ft/lbs tq
