Message: um ill have too look at the truck its pretty late right now but im pretty sure every engine has to have some sort of maf sensor or something to monitor air intake and such a sensor or chip can be altered in order to regester more air flow after adding such things as after market cool air intakes modified throttle bodys and such and such :) but again i could be wrong

Message: You have to be pretty ignorant to say that it doesn't have the potential to go fast. You put forged piston in there with a turbo and blow off with about 15# of boost and it will smoke your stock V8's. Some of the fatest cars out there are 4 poppers. Everything has some potential if you have some brains and some money. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that there is a replacment for dissplacment. But your folling yourself if you say it can't be fast. It already starts out light, with a 5 speed. You just need to know where that powers at. Hey PEBBLEPUSHER. Try to let it breath better, The stock air box id great for noise reduction from the TB but it resticst a lot of air. Put a catback system on there, like flowmaster. DOn't forget MSD, wires, and they make a JET chip stage two if you put in a 180 degree stat. After that if you really want more you can throw about $1500 dollars in and setup a nice tubo sytem.

Message: Let me find my links again and I'll post them here. One guy will sell you a manual to boost you dak for $20 bucks. He has pictures on the site that look really nice. Of course I would not recomend the 15lbs at first. Not until you beef some internals up.

Message: I have a 2.5 4cyl. in my shadow and was considering a factory turbo off a turbo 2.5 and was wondering about the difference in the stock 2.5 and the turbo 2.5 pistons. I was thinking a compression ratio difference but not sure.If that will work how much boost is a factory 2.5 turbo or are they adjustable.

Message: RAT, you're mistaken. A turbo 2.5 with 15lbs. of boost would not only be unreliable, it wouldn't be able to outrun a V8 dak, let alone smoke one. The fast 4bangers you speak of carry 1000-2000 pounds less weight than a Dakota does. You're talking about a high 17 to 18 second pickup. You can make it faster, but not "fast"(and still be streetable). My $.02

Message: Slow guy, why would you think 15 lbs of boost is unreliable? I ran a heavy GMC carryall 4x4 (original with the extra tall frame) with a V6 I turboed for 216K miles before I sold it. Boost was set at 17 psi. The only thing unreliable was the drivetrain. I ended up with a New Process 540 5 speed (5 ton tranny) custom full floating 6 lug Dana 60 rear end. This thing was a rock crawler before there was such a term. The truck was not slow either. It beat it's share of big block muscle cars. If you want to see what a turbo 2.5 can do check this out. http://www.turbovan.net/van.html
I'd say some V8 Dakotas would get smoked.

Message: If you ran 15lbs. of boost on stock 2.5 pistons? I'd give that engine 2 weeks. It can be done, but it takes money. Money that can be spent on a V8. If you want to be a trendsetter and have a 2.5 that can whoop up on V8s, that's OK, but I have a hard time understanding that it could be as streetable as a stock V8. If you want to have the title king of the street(truckwise, anyways), it would be pointless to try with a 4banger.
