Subject: hesitation in the tranny IP: Logged
Message: I have a '01 quad-cab 4x4 with 4.7 auto. When I drive it after its sat overnight, it hesitates before it finally goes? Is this normal, does anyone else have this problem? How about a fix? Thanks

Message: All right, I'll do that. I'd hope it wouldn't be low at only 8000 miles though! Thanks

Message: Hey guys i think that might be normal this is a note from the manual, " If the vehicle is started in ambient temperatures of -5f (-21c)or below, the Overdrive will not turn on. This protects the transmission from damage if the transmission oil cooling system freezes. Overdrive operation will resume when the ambient temperature has risen to approximately +2f (-17cel)

Message: The one thing that you might want to try is the speed sensor that is screwed into the rear of the tranny. That is known to cause hesitation when cold, if it is going bad, after a while it wont shift at all.

Message: I believe CDak has a point. My 2002 QC 4.7L Auto does not shift into overdrive right away when it is cold(below 30 degrees outside and truck has sat for at least 4-5 hours). After going down the road for about 5 minutes it will warm up enough and I will see the RPM's drop into their normal range. I did check with the dealer and he had said that was typical in the 45rfe trans.
