Message: I have a 2000 dakota with the 4.7 and went to get the transmission fluid changed at the local master lube, but they didn't want to do it. They told me that the transmission system didn't have any pressure and that I should take it directly to the dodge dealer. They said it should have 40 to 60 lbs. of pressure. I have no idea what they are talking about. Does anyone know anything about this?

Message: I would doubt that your master lube guys have the right equipent to test the pressures through the valve body and pan. If they were taping into one of the lines on the side of the trany I would be woundering why they did this? It is not normal to check the trany presure before changeing to fluids! They probably do not have the two filters that your transmission requires or the ATF+4 that your trany requires. I could not find the filters anywhere other then the dealer. I even tried filter manufacture's. The ATF+4 was availbele at the dealer and Redline Raceing makes a C+ATF that exceedes the ATF+4 specs. The Redline Raceing Synthetic C+ATF was cheaper then the OEM fluid. My transmission required 8 quarts of fluid with both fliters replaced. The filters are very expensive!!!!!!!!!!!!
