 Subject: jet chip and computer reflash

I have a 2000 4.7 does anyone know if having your computer reflashed and a stage 2 jet chip is bad or good or do they cancel out each other i realized that the pcm had been reflashed by the dealer and i had already had the chip installed
2000 4.7 dakota, jet chip,airaid intake. 180 t-stat flowmaster 40 series muffler, and poweraid tbs. 3.55 auto

If you pay the 400 to have the computer flashed then the jet chip will be useless to you. But the gain from what I hear is WAY better.

The dodge dealer can't do a performace flash. Mike leach or marty from KRC performance can.

All the dealer does is flash for updates and drivabilty problems/emissions that type of thing.

I got the Jet Chip back a week or so ago.
I was looking at the Jet catalogue and guess what? There is a different chip for the 5.9 R/T.
The Chip for the "regular" 5.9 is a 90002/90002s (stage1/stage2). These are the ones I have/you tried.
The Chip for the R/T is a 90023/90023S.
I wonder what difference trying the RIGHT CHIP would make?????

Dont waste your money on jet anything if you have a pre 2001 go with the mopar pcm. If you are like myself with a 2001 then you need to contact ASE performance chips or kenne bell they offer real products that remove the speed limiter and performance gains.

I just got off the phone with one of the techs at ASE and he said they do have chips for the 4.7L. They are $349.00. He sadi they remove the speed limiter and play with the ignition timing or something like that (either he was a low talker or i'm deaf...didn't feel like repeating the question). He said the chips make 15hp and 8%tq which is just over 23. I asked for Dyno sheets and he said he would scan them and e-mail them to me. I'm not holding my breath on that one.
Also talked to Hypertech...no luck in that department.
So would the hyperspeed be a better investment that the ASE? Hyperspeed says 10-15% more h.p. Doesn't remove the speed limiter though (at I don't think it does) and you don't have to use premium fuel with it. It also supposedly raises m.p.g like the ASE does.

I just went ahead and called Hyperspeed as well. Another low talker but oh well. He said to expect between a 8-10% h.p. gain(18.8-23.5) and 12-15%tq (29.5-44.25). The speed limiter is NOT removed and you do NOT have to use premium fuel. These computers sell for $399.00 on the hyperspeed site and will probably sell for quite a bit less once Bernd starts offering them on his site. He has the page set up but no prices yet. Heard he was still working on the deal with them. Either way I doubt I will ever be going over 117mph...way to much traffic in FL. for that and You don't have to use premium fuel. Best deal yet I think.

well lets see if you are into performance you shouldnt care if you have to use super unleaded. My biggest concern is the speed limiter I currently use Jacobs Pro Street ignition so my timing is already covered. I just recived a reply from kenne bell they state that they can change the top speed to 130 mph. ASE said they will totaly remove the the damned thing. I am still looking into Hyperdpeed. If any is still considering JET chip well i hope to see you on the street so i can smoke ya.

Casey...I don't really mind the super unleaded part of the whole deal. I just wish that the computers offered more than 15hp so I wouldn't think twice at the $300+ that it costs for these chips.

I have a friend that recommends Ken from Professional Automotive Reprogramming. $100/computer. They are a small company in the midwest who do reflashing without the car (they just need the computer and the VIN) I think they're phone is 1-866-733-5274
