Subject: superchargin' a 5.2 w/ high miles IP: Logged
Message: My '97 dak has just under 110K miles (I know) and I was wondering if it was at all worth it to supercharge it, or should I get a newer engine instead? I haven't heared any bad criticism from the Kenne Bells, but if there is, I'd like to here it. Or any other mods... (have K&N intake, and 3 chamber Flowmaster cat-back)

Message: Get a new engine or better yet rebuild your factory engine with HP parts. You would not see a great improvement from a tired engine and if you did it would not last long. Off the shelf OEM engines are usualy only good for about 8psi of boost if the engine was not designed for forced induction from the factory. It is much better to send your block out to a good machine shop and then rebuild the engine with high performance parts from reputeable(sp) companys. Lunatti, Crowler, Eagle, JE, Keith Black,ARP........... When you order your pistons make sure that the company you use knows that you are going to super charge your engine. It makes a difference in the piston selection. This would also aply to the camshaft.
