Subject: 4.7 vs 4.7 H.O. IP: Logged
Message: I recently read an article in 4 Wheeling Magazine about the 4.7 H.O in a Jeep G. Cherokee. It stated that this engine produced 25 more ponies and about 35lbs more torque than the normal 4.7. Does anyone have any ideas of what the differences between the two engines are? If I'm not mistaken the H.O. version will be available in the Dak this year. Appreciate any info...
Thanks

Message: iirc the main difference is in the pistons, the HO uses a higher compression domed piston. I'd expect a revised cam as well.

Message: I lighter forged crank has little to do in the way of HPs. Just makes it rev faster and is stonger.
