Ok so my paranoia about my brakes has about peaked. I've heard way to many negative things about Dakota breaks. My 2000 Dak SLT has rear drums and front dics. Does any one have any options for upgrades that won't break me (no pun intended)? I'm not willing to go cheap on brakes though so if anyone has any opinions please let me know.

There's a group buy on the Powerslot rotors right now - check out the "Group Buys" forum. Great deal, they are over $300 set, you can get them for $78 ea.

That group buy seems to be floundering though. No one seems to have the time to get it of the ground. $78 is a great deal though. Right now those same rotors are going for $98 on truckperformance.com. Don't know if the guy would go below that.

Do you or does anyone know if I should expect any problems with the rear drums? I saw the rear disc conversion kits. Pretty pricey though.

I have heard of drum problems, although I haven't had any. The conversion kits are pricey you're right. I've mostly heard about warped rotors.

I have run three track events on my stock binders so far, and havent really noticed a problem other than a little fade when they worm up and that I had to bleed them before every event. stillen makes what they call sport rotors for early and late daks. have seen the rear convertion, but for the money, I am going to fab my own using wilwood components. one thing that I noticed is that the late daks have some really smallish front disc hardware comparing to the early daks. rotors, calipers, spindles..

So the new Daks are to heavy for the brakes? I thought the guys who design these trucks are supposed to be smart.
