Subject: IAT question IP: Logged
Message: I was thinking about getting an IAT adjuster, and was reading through the info on Speedtweaks.net,, and came across something saying it only works in Open Loop mode,,,not Close Loop.
I'm assuming this is in regards to the PCM, but not sure what the difference is, and how to switch between the two modes.
Also..is it worth purchasing now that it's getting colder,,should I wait till it starts to warm up?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Andy

You can email Bernd and ask him the other questions. He is real nice and will get back to you. His email address is on his website.

Ya,, I was expecting Bernd to answer the 'Loop' question. I've dropped an email at speedtweaks.net before and never got a response. I'd figure he'd answer quicker on this forum anyway. Yep, Bernd's a coo guy, spoken with him before.
Bernd were are you?!

Message: I saw a SpeedTweaks post that said the IATs are going on sale in December (I think).
Of course I bought mine two weeks ago at full price and have not installed it.

The IAT adjuster can help in closed loop but the A/F is ultimately controlled by the O2 sensor(s) during closed-loop operation. Granted, the IAT signal is taken into the equation, but the PCM wants to see 14.7:1 under normal cruising.
WOT, 3/4 throttle, or anytime the PCM switches to open-loop, that's when your in open-loop. (All of the modes are on the "Tips & Tricks" page.)
