Message: I was wondering the same exact thing when I first saw of the HO 4.7, one of the mechanics at my local dodge dealer gave me a training booklet on the HO 4.7 it explains all the differences, Here's what I got out of that booklet:HO has a forged steel crankshaft, (4.7 is cast iron), crankshaft damper is unique to the HO and can not be used on any other motor, main bearings are designed just for the HO, HO has pistons that are dome shaped, which raises the compression ratio up to 9.7 to 1, HO has a floating wrist pin connecting the pistons to the rods, ( 4.7 has pressed fit pins), HO has unique cylinder heads that use a different shape for the combustion chambers, which improves air flow, HO has a low-restriction air intake system,HO has different cams, , exhaust valves, and all the valve springs are unique to the HO,and cannot be used in the regular 4.7, spark plugs are platinum tipped, 2 extra knock sensors located under the intake manifold, HO has a unique PCM calibration and also premium fuel is recommended. Well thats about it, sorry so long

Message: With all those mod's to the engine you would think it would have more than just 35 extra ponies.
Is the crank interchangable?

Message: It didn't specifically say, but I assume because the bearings are different that it may not be.
