Message: Hello from Italy!
I have a 96 4x4 3.9ltr and do not see any cold air intake systems for my rig anywhere online. I am currently serving duty overseas and there are no home depots here to make a homemade system. Does anyone make one for this year truck. Please help!

Message: Wow halfway around the world and on the Dak site, cool. I believe the K&N GenII FIPK setup will fit the 3.9 on the pre 98 Daks. I know your pain, being that I have a 96 and it is indeed hard to find mods for the older bodies/engines. I only have a 2.5 and just modified the factory setup and put a K&N cylinder filter on the end of the factory intake that I chopped the factory filter box off of.

Message: Thanks Eddie!
I am begining to figure this out. I have searched the web some more and found several junk yards that have the 1997 Dak's air hats and will order one this week. I should then be able to purchase the GenII or Intense Perf. kit as well. It is a shame they do not have to many toys for the 96 year. I think mine will last forever. Never a problem with it yet. I will never sell mine.

Message: Simpleman,
Try and double check to see if the 97 airhat will bolt down onto your existing throttlebody, I know on mine, the TB has three bolts that stick up and that is where the intake system fits down on. The K&N GenII intake replaces the whole intake from the TB on. There is no need to get a 97 or newer airhat, since the K&N comes with everything you'll need. I'm pretty sure that is

Message: Hey Eddie!
Thanks again! I emailed the folks at "Speed Tweeks" to ask them what might fit. Hopefully they have run into this before and can help. I hope they tell me the same thing as you. For what you pay for those K&N's it should come with everything you need. Now that Im able to start my modifications process I am already running into a wall. Anything can be done to an engine with some time and $$.

Message: you're welcome! SpeedTweaks is a great resource run by probably the most knowledgeable guys on this site and anywhere, Bernd Ratsch. He is very helpful and answers promptly. He himself has a 3.9 in I believe a 97 Dak. He has done TONS of stuff to his Dak so he'll know what works and what doesn't, now the problem with the cash flow..........Oh well!
