Message: I just installed Borla's Turbo XL model #40665. It is an aircraft-quality T-304 Stainless Steel muffler designed to accommodate up to 450 HP, and is pretty ballsy sounding.

Message: I installed a Terminator muffler inline to my stock ehaust 4 years ago when I bought my Dak. It gave it somewhat of a deeper sound than the stock muffler, however I was hoping for a more throaty rumble. It seemed that any mustang or camaro could just slap on a Flowmaster and they would rattle windows a block away. I said Oh well, I must have chosen the wrong muffler. Anyways, that was 4 years ago, and my exhaust has sounded a little better than stock, but not quite cool. Last Monday, I went to the local exhaust shop and had them cut off my tailpipe after the muffler and weld on a turn-down, pointing straight down at the pavement. MAN is my truck LOUD and DEEP!!!! It sounds sooo good that I have been just cruisin' around my suburb just to hear it. The ehaust resonates a little in the cab now, but is bearable. The only thing I am worried about is it is now a cop magnet. It seems that more of them have been following me lately just waiting for me to step on it. Yeah right!!! I rarely step on it anyways, except in merging situations, or after new performance upgrades.
To have the turn-down welded on cost me only 20 bucks, plus I got to keep my stock tailpipe if I ever want to put it back on. It sounds great now and still falls in legal Db levels while cruising, and I guess while wide open too. It didn't seem too loud then either.
I always wondered why I couldn't see the tail pipes of some cars and trucks. Now I know.
A friend of mine had a 98 5.2 manual. The day he bought it, he took it to an exhaust shop and had them slap some homemade duals on for him. Nothing wrong with them, just that they were hand made, not a kit that gets mailed too you. I looked at the bends also, and they were very nice, no kinks at all.
Anyways, he kept the stock muffler, but after he installed the duals and meg tips, it sounded ferocious. Only cost him $150. Much less than the cat back kits.
I think that the length, diameter and amount of bends in your exhaust play more of a part in the tone than the muffler alone. Yes, the muffler will make somewhat of a change, but the pipes will make all the difference in the world.

Message: When I cut off the cat on my last truck and drove it to the exhaust shop to get a piece of pipe put in, it was pretty damn loud! I like my 50 series Flowmaster (Delta Flow) but I think the 40 is supposed to be louder. Also had a Full Boar on my 99 V6 Dak and that sounded good but a little ricey.

Message: If you want a loud exhaust that still has a deep rumble, try this. I went down to my local exhaust shop and asked for a loud exhaust, they cut off my muffler and made a y-pipe straight off the cat into dual exhaust with no mufflers and 4"x18" tips. It sounds really tough. It also gave me roughly 3% increase in fuel economy.

Message: If you want loud the cat must go! I have a 40 series flowmaster with headers. I recently removed the cat and it sounded soo good that I got a woody! The cat gave it a ricer whine that I didn't care for but it is great now.

Message: Sounds like TURBO has V-8 envy, you must be one of those little young mommas boyz I see when I come to a stoplight a driving a HONDA with one of those fart-pipes exhaust systems, then you have all these racing, chinese and NOS stickers all over your car thinking that you could beat a V-8. Sounds like someone has little man syndrome. When you can afford to drive something that has more than 4 cylinders in it , then you can get off your boyfriends dick and drive with the big boys. Till then FART-AWAY my little y-chromosone fanatic.
P.S. That's all from this end,but I'm pretty sure that we will here from TURBO again.

Message: You want loud, try taking off the CAT run true duals to the back with no mufflers and put on 6" tips that are at least one foot long. this will be loud and deep.
I ran A set up close to this (I still had the Cat on due to inspections to get tags ) for two years. It turned alot of heads and had several complements on how it sounded.

Message: I personally like the Hooker Aero Chamber 3" cen/cen. They give a nice mellow sound at idle, but when you stomp on it you can hear it for blocks. I have not ran into anybody else who runs them. I have not heard them on a modern engine though. (I have them on my 69 Torino 351w stock) If anyone else has openions on the Aero Chambers let me know.

Message: Just unbolt the rear exhaust from the Headers. You save 50 pounds and your exhaust will turn heads. For you little penis folk, have a shop weld two 3" pipes to either header and bolt on some Kragen glasspacks directly under the driver seat. This should get you all the attention that you are craving. Best of luck and Merry X-mas.

Message: well, on my 318 ram, (sorry guys, can;t find a ram sight with this kind of info) I just cut off my muffler, ran a pipe in place of it back to my stock tail pipe, thats it, no header and still the cat, I heard a coule other rams that cut off the cat and put on a flowmaser, and one had glass pack, both had a tendency to backfire when revved up, and one fried a piston, but they may have been from something different. I have gotten many compliments and been yelled at enough, but its sounds extremely cool, and looks stock. NO resonance in the cab, only a nice rumble. And as someone said before, a very nice car alarm checker.
