Message: Has anybody ported and polished the heads on a 4.7? What was the net gain in HP?
What about the intake. Could the intake be ported and/or polished?
Just curious ;)

Message: CW
I noticed my intake manifold opening had some "rough edges" right at the mating surface of the TB. I thought about grinding it to make a more clear opening. I didn't want to remove the manifold from the engine as it was such a big job. I was trying to come up with different ways to trap the trash that would result from the grinding operation. I thought about using masking tape inside the manifold opening and a bunch of other HS (horse sheit) ideas.
How did you "port" yours?
Thanks for the reply

Message: I ported the lip on the opening before the throttle blade on the throttle body it's self just removed the throttle body and took a demel tool to it. I made the opening of the throttle body the same size as the throttle blade. I didn't see any restriction on my intake though. Good and cheap mod, until I can afford the 70mm TB.

Message: I don't know of an intake manifold or a cam for the 4.7 yet. You can get the heads ported at KRC Performance for $400. I think that will give you about 30 HP. I don't remember for sure. It has been a while since I talked to them.

Message: Did this simple operation extend you noticable results in performance? After the dremel tool, do you polish it with something to smooth up the edges, I guess emery cloth comes to mind. I would like to try this. Is it worth the efforts?

Message: I think it is worth the effort. No dyno runs or 1/4 mile times but makes the truck feel better part throttle, still getting used to full throttle. Just got it a month ago.

Message: There website is http://www.krcperformance.com/. I haven't done it myself or know anyone who has done it but I have called them about doing it. You have to take off your heads and send the heads to them. They charge $400 just to port and polish. You have to get them taken off you engine yourself. For the money you gain a lot of power compared to most other mods now.
