I currently have a 3.9L in my 96 Dakota. I looking to drop a 360 in it... I'm wondering if any of you have done this? If so could you give me some advice... I'm looking for the most economical way of doing this. Any rough cost, application, or fabrication ideas would be very appreciated. I want to go fuel injected, though I know that it will be more expensive. I assume I will need to get a new/ different trany. basically, I need help for A to Z. Thanks

I just swapped the 6 out of my '92 dakota for a '94 360 w/50,000 miles on it. The year of the engine you're swapping in is important in figuring every piece that you need. The A-500 you have should hold up pretty good. Mine has 137,000 on it, all i did was service it and put a shift kid in it and it's still taking a beating of about 300hp/390lb ft (roughly). You will need positraction though, I blew out two 8 1/4s and one 8 3/4 because they were open rearends. Let me know what engine year (it's a lot easier to use a salvage motor that already has injection set up) I'd say that I spent under 1500 in the whole process. It's just the little things that add up to so much. Well i'll talk to ya later.

i have a question also, is there anyone that has done a 2.5 to 5.2 or 5.9 swap? what was the total cost of the project approx. and did you perform the work? how hard was it? and what are some things to look out for? thanks

Jeff is the A-500 a trany? Mine is a 5 speed manual... Does that matter? What did you have to do to get the engine mounted? I heard you have to change radiator ect.... What else did you change? let me know.
