Message: Do the MSD ignition systems really make a big improvement in performance? Should I change out the plugs and wires too?

Message: It varies from vehicle to vehicle...but with other modifications, yes...it will help.
A quality set of 8mm wires, Autolite 3923's (gapped at .005"-.010" larger), and a Borg-Warner (or Accel or Napa) Brass Contact Cap and Rotor. Keep in mind that the multiple spark ignition systems wear out the cap and rotor much quicker...change them at every 7500 miles.

Message: On this line, I have a 2000 3.9 with a knocking problem, I have done the 180 t-stat and autolite plugs and it still rattles with 89 octane. I was going to try the re-route shown on speedtweaks but if it doesn't sound like that will work I would rather just go to getting a MSD timing adjuster. What do you think bernd?
