Message: Here's the deal
My 98 4x4 with 5.2 auto and 3.55 gears is my daily driver and to get to a high level of performance (12-13 second quarter miles)is costly and will hurt the reliability of my truck.
I'm going to purchase a 92 Dakota RC V-6 auto from a friend of mine. Very clean inside and out just getting to 100,000 miles and the motor is starting to run rough and parts are starting to crap out on it. It is light though and a great platform for an awesone race/show truck.
I want to drop it some, put 3.92 gears, and a LSD.
For the engine I want to get a 360 or a 408 strocker 360 block and drop it in with the automatic tranny out of an R/T.
My question is the wiring. I know I'll need a new harness for the things like the injectors (8 vs 6) and ignition and PCM. Can I rip all of this out of a R/T or Ram and plug it to the motor (or buy the whole motor with harness). The problem is, will all of this harness plug into the wiring for the truck (guages, sensors, controls) Will the OD button in the dash work the transmission the same as the newer style (same plugs and same type of signal)? My hope is to buy a wrecked R/T or ram 360 rebuild it, and "plug" it into the 92 Dakota. Is this possible?
Thank You,
Corey
