Message: I just got a quote from the dealer to swap out my 3.55 for new 3.92s - about $1400.
DON'T THINK SO...
I've found a used set of 3.92s.
What do you think it should cost to have them installed by a good shop?
Thanks

If so, what kind of difference did you notice.
I have a QC with the 3.55s. I've checked with a couple different gear shops and they suggest I go with 4.11s, instead of the 3.92s.
Do you (or anyone else) have an opinion on what gears would be best and what effect on mileage I could expect with both the 3.92s and the 4.11s.
Thanks

Message: Jon, yes it will, as far as i know all you need to do is get a differant spedo gear that plugs into the tranny (easy to do) but it might be different with these new trannys, can anyone back me up on this or correct me?

Message: Dakaty,I have not yet had it installed,I got a $148 speeding ticket last Saturday so that pushed back my plans a coupla weeks. It will change your speedo.Just look in the yellow pages for someone that does speedo calibrations, my local guy does it for $25.All the Highway Patrol weenies have to have their speedoes calibrated and certified on a regular basis so there should be one close by.Just ask one of the HP guys where they go.
And yes it will make a noticeable differance in your acceleration,it will also cause your enging to turn a bit faster at highway speeds and will negatively impact your gas mileage to a certain degree. But all this is well worth it the first time you smoke some snot-nosed kid in his daddy's 5.0!

Message: If your truck is 98' or newer you don't have to worry about the speedo. The speedo is read off of axle speed and not driveshaft speed.
