I have a 93 4x4 Dakota w/318ci and I am considering bolting on an aftermatket throttle body. I hear some of you talk about Flowmetrics throttle body and am curious what kind of performance(HP, Torque) gain I could get out of it and the cost. Also, could anyone recomend any other aftermarket TB's?

Due to the @#$! Rain, I still haven't been able to get to the Dyno shop for a few good pulls (With and Without the Blower). Going from the 50mm (which the HP gains would be slightly higher than the 48mm, probably right close to 10-12HP gains at the rear wheels...that would depend on what the stock TB bore size is though.)

Hughes Engines makes a good (stock casting) modified throttle body as well.

How different is the Hughes Engines TB from QuickD? Is it different beast altogether?

For $165 (is it $195 for the 4.7?), it doesn't seem like a bad way to get some extra performance.

They both use the stock castings. Both use the similar modifications, Hughes just has been playing with them a bit more. (More "tweaks".)

Hey Bernd, how difficult is it to swap the stock TB for the aftermatket TB? Are there anythings I should be cautious of? Does Flowmetrics or hughs have a website?

I pulled mine off last weekend for the first time, very easy to do. Three plugs to release, one air line, the throttle cable slides through the bracket but the cruise control will take a little patience so you don't break the plastic tip. Then 4 bolts hold it to the intake manifold. Took about 5 minutes all together.

Will the 92 5.2L 4X4's use the same perf parts as the 93's? What years are compatible?
