my 94 dakota is my first truck with the axles located above the springs. Instead of shackles I have to use lowering blocks. does anyone know how to install these? can I do it at home with a standard jack?

Lowering blocks are pretty easy to install. You can use a standard jack and do it at your house in less than an hour. Just be careful when you lower it down to put on the U-bolts. They might break like they did when I lowered mine. I am pretty sure they come w/instructions. One more thing, do not put a lot of weight in your bed until you know what they can handle. It won't be able to hold as much weight as before, though. Good luck.

Increases axle wrap, but if you do it, use the steel like R/T said. Any you will likely need longer U-Bolts.
With increased axle wrap, traction bars become more desireable, but you just lost some of your ground clearance in that area by adding the blocks. Is there a spring shop around? They can re-arch your springs to a lower ride height.
