Message: ok.... i have a 2001 RC shortbed 2wd dakota sport 3.9l v6, ever since i bought it brand new off the show room floor it has made a funny clicking sound once the engine reaches operating temperature..... now, the acessory belt also has squeeked a little when cold since i bought it, i replaced the belt and it still squeeks when it is cold.... i was also thinking that my clicking noise could be associated with the belt, but i found out that it is not from the belt obviously and i am out of ideas and the dealership keeps telling me that it is normal, but i really don't think it is normal and it really sounds like crap ( well to me it does )..... plus when you are driving through a tunnel or a past a structure on the side of the road you can hear it clicking ... so my question is , could this be the idler pulley or the tensioner pulley because of the fact that replacing the belt did not get rid of the squeeking belt and the new belt squeeks just as much and could this also be what is causing the clicking noise i keep hearing....
thanx
