Message: Finally broke down and ordered the K&N FIPK for $255 from Truck Performance. (Also ordered some MSD super conducter wires).
I've been a good boy and have worked hard for several weeks and I DESERVE a reward.
Of course I had to convince the wife that these mods with greatly improve performance, I mean mileage per gallon.
I'm hopeful that these improvements will noticably improve performance. I have a "drop in" K&N filter which will be for sale soon...

Love it!!

Message: You mentioned you have a jet chip. What stage is it and did it make a noticable increase in power?

Message: I have a Jet Stage II for my 98 5.2 that I bought from someone on this site for $50. It really works well for me.

Message: I have both a Stage 1 and Stage 2.
Both of them help performance alot.
I got the stage 1 chip when I first started adding modifications. Then, in an attmept to satisfy my hunger for power, I got the Stage 2. I was hoping that it would make a remarkable difference over the stage 1.
My problem has been that I have added several modifications during the times I was using both Chips, so I really haven't been able to compare "apples and apples".
This week I am going to install the K&N kit, MSD wires and new brass cap and rotor (I need part numbers for the cap & rotor if anyone has them handy), so it will be a while before I get used to the new power level. I am now using the Stage 1.
My intial feeling is that I like the Stage 1 chip better. It has good power and runs better on regular fuel than super. I have read a lot of posts claiming that other Chips/Mods are better. I haven't used any others, but I have been pleased with the Jet Chip.

Message: Bill, just order the cap and rotor from this site's link to Speedtweaks and you won't have to worry about the part number anyway.
I put the Magnecore wires on my 5.2 and they along with the cap and rotor work great together.
I think I am going to put a better coil on soon, just have to decide between an accel or msd.
Good luck,
Rascal
