Message: I'm a little new to the site and have yet to come across reading if anyone has taken off their clutch fan and replaced it with an electric fan? Any gains?

Message: Yup...there's a noticeable gain since you now have less reciprocating mass up front. (Electric fan conversion is good for, on the average, 10HP.)

Message: Bernd is right but be sure your truck usage allows it. What I mean is if you were to have underdrive pulleys, pull a boat, and use the A/C in southern La., you may have problems with overheating. I was using the fan with the highest rated CFM I could find and it still didn't work for me. Even checked proper spacing and made a shroud.
BTW, I know where you can buy a slightly used fan. Hehe

Message: I'm planning on using an aftermarket fan (Black Magic). I do plan on buying a boat either next year or in 03. Right now I have a homebrew with a Holley Power Shot cone filter, JBA headers, and 180 thermostat. I plan on adding the Mopar performance computer and maybe 1.7 rockers. I'm also adding a fan for the a/c in the front. If I do all this I will add an engine oil cooler behind the grey fascia/front bumper. Do you think I'll have problems overheating during my summer trips to Florida while towing the boat around (25ft Searay, 3200lbs)? Just a curious question. I will probably do all this anyway, but just wanting to know of future problems now.

Message: My 99 5.2 4x4 NEVER overheated with a stock 01 electric in place of the mechnical fan and also a small electric (don't remember which one, it is in the garage right now) between the ac condensor and the rad. Big fan turned on at 210 off at 200, small fan came on for a/c operation. Towed 1500 lbs of jetskiis thru West Virginia mountains to Florid a and never even got warm. If you need specs just yell.

Message: This may seem like a dumb question but how do you get the fan off of a 01 4.7? The blades won't fit over the clutch unit. There is a brass colored nut on the backside. If that is what you loosen, how do you do it without turning the waterpump?
thanks.

Message: I agree with Jeff. I tried several others, the Black Magic keeps my 5.2 cool when no other would. I do plan to add a flex-a-lite low profile fan as a pusher to the front before spring as the summers in Atlanta can get hot. Sure adds torque and improves gas mileage without the big clutch fan.

Message: Jacob,
I've been running the Black Magic on my S/C'd '97 V6...no overheating problems at all. The generic "150" will fit just fine.
(Yes...I switched to the Black Magic from my Hayden 16")
